Festival transport

A few important points about getting to Tapeley Park:

If you are coming from London the best way to get there is by the coach we have organized. This is because getting to Tapeley by public transport is expensive and can be very time consuming.

London - Tapeley Festival Coach ticket £35.00 return

We are running a coach from London, to make it cheap to travel and to cut down on carbon emissions (not for profit). The coach will leave from ULU, Malet Street at 12 noon on Friday 8 July, returning to the same drop off point on Sunday afternoon.

other ways of getting there

The nearest train station is Barnstaple (which is 10 miles away).

Trains run from London Paddington to Barnstaple (change at Exeter St Davids). The journey normally takes 3.5 – 4 hours and usually costs about £69 return, although cheaper tickets might be available.

From Barnstaple there is an infrequent bus service that drops off near Tapeley , but it will leave you with a mile and a half walk up the hill to the venue. If you take this route you’ll need to get the bus to Instow and ask to be dropped off at Tapeley Park. You can check out local bus timetables here.

National Express run coaches from London to Barnstaple and a limited service to Instow. Standard return fares cost around £50 and do not take you directly to the venue. The journey takes at least 5.5 hours. Our coach, because it is direct will be significantly faster and cheaper.

Driving is not recommended, it is unfriendly to the planet and very tiring. Relying on SatNav is fine until you get close – then the satellites and computers connive to give you a wild chase around the back lanes of Westleigh. The place is well signposted and once you’re near turn off the satnav and revert to the quaint old system of following maps and signposts, it will save you time.

So, make sure you book a coach ticket before they all run out!
