New Film Defends Refugees
A supporter from Margate writes: "DON'T MISS THIS BRILLIANT FILM. I have just come back from seeing a pre-release showing of the new film: The Last Resort. It is set in the fictional seaside town of Stonehaven - based on and filmed in Margate. The story tells of a refugee woman and her son, befriended by a local bingo hall worker and their efforts to leave the oppression and poverty that exists in towns like these for refugees and locals. A Kurdish refugee friend who saw the film with me told me that the film is totally accurate - with many parts being played by local people and refugees. No better recommendation can there be than the fact that local Tories want any showings of the film banned from Margate. Why not leaflet local showings with a petition defending refugees? On general release in about two weeks." [mid-March]
