In January 2001, 12,000 activists gathered in Porto Alegre in the south of Brazil to discuss the issues they faced. It was a huge success. For two further years, Porto Alegre hosted the WSF, then it moved to Mumbai in 2004. In 2005 it was held simultaneously in Bamako, Mali and Caracas, Venezuela. In 2007 it will be held in Nairobi, Kenya. GR will again have a delegation there. The World Social Forum is financially prohibitive to many, and there are scores of issues specific to different regions of the world. The ESF has been held in Florence, Paris, London and Athens. there is not a future venue yet decided, but we hope this event, which has spurned actions such as the amazing international day of action against the war on Iraq in Feb. 2003 continues… watch this space
