The basic message is that you will get
in, though there may be delays.
The border is open, but there will be
special controls during the summit and for several days before hand. These
controls have been agreed with the Interior and Foreign Ministries. The
controls shouldn't apply to you if you fly to another destination, like
Turin.
|
You will need a passport. This applies even if you normally enter
Italy with an identity card under the Schengen agreement (Schengen is
suspended.) If you are not a UK national, check out your position by
contacting the Italian embassy, or the embassy for your own country. |
|
The border police will probably search you. Do not bring anything
illegal.
|
|
If you have been arrested at a previous anti-capitalist demo -
especially at an international one like Prague or Nice - you will not be
allowed into Italy. This applies even if you were arrested but not
charged. If this applies to you, get to Italy as soon as you can - before
the special controls start at the border. Or fly to another destination
and get the bus to Genoa. If you have paid for a ticket on GR transport,
contact us for a refund.

|
If you are coming in a group, the group should let the Genoa Social
Forum (GSF) know when you expect to arrive. The GSF brings together all
the groups protesting at Genoa. They will inform the border police when
you are coming, so that they will have enough officers to search and
process you.

The French organisation ATTAC will be providing help at motorway
service stations on the French side of the border. They will do this from
Sunday 15 July.
|
|
Genoa Social Forum will be at the border with Italian MPs and
lawyers.
