The 3rd European Social Forum closed yesterday, October 17th 2004. The global
CADTM finds the G8 announcements pathetic and denounces the fierce repression peaceful demonstrators fell victims too.
As we went to Rostock, the media were (once more) eagerly writing the obituaries of the anti-capitalist movement.
Rostock is much calmer now (Tuesday). Yesterday’s major event - the No Borders demonstration was harassed and blockaded by the cops, protesters tolerance was tested to the extreme.
Yesterday (Saturday 1 June) saw the biggest demonstration in Rostock anyone can remember, it also saw the biggest mobilisation of police anywhere in Germany since the end of the second world war.
