The government in Botswana refuses to recognise their land ownership rights, and they face eviction, and torture for hunting. Many "bushmen" worry that they will lose their ancestral land and their culture will die. Sponsored walk organised by Survival - more info from their website.

Monday 18 June Support Anti-GM Protesters on Trial - Harwich
Last year eleven protesters took direct action to remove GM crops from Wivenhoe, near Colchester - their trial is scheduled for today. More details here.
Tuesday 19 June Open Meeting - Support Burmese Political Prisoners - London
Speaker Bo Kyi, student activist and ex-political prisoner from Burma. He has set up an organisation in Thailand, directly supporting political prisoners still in jail inside Burma. His organisation, the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) is staffed entirely by ex-political prisoners, who not only gather information to disseminate to Amnesty and others, but they also raise funds that go back across the border to the families of the prisoners still incarcerated. Saturday 30 June Mass Protest Against Asylum Seekers Detention Centre - Heathrow
On 29th June the biggest detention centre for refugees so far will be opened next door to Harmondsworth Detention Centre. It will hold 550 asylum seekers and others in prison. Whole families will be kept there as will people in poor health. The Close Down Harmondsworth campaign and several other organisations are calling for a mass protest outside the Detention Centre on 30 June assembling at 12 noon. The Centre is North of Heathrow on the A4/Coinbrook bypass.
