Why a conference weekend? To launch a truly national campaign:

To deepen our understanding of conditions in Colombia and to analyse the multinational economic interests generating poverty, displacement, environmental devastation and state terrorism;
To establish a broader and active unity of forces who are opposed to human rights violations in Colombia and who want to be part of an ongoing political dynamic of solidarity action;
To consolidate the work of the previous 9 months and involve members through a democratic process so that the Campaign works with agreed priorities and structures that encourage involvement;
To interchange ideas and experiences with a view to supporting each other as well as our brothers and sisters in Colombia.

Guest Speakers from Sintraemcali, USO (Colombian Oil Workers Union) and Sinaltrainal - the Colombian food workers union currently taking Coca Cola to court for complicity in the assassination of trade union leaders.

International Solidarity Rally: 6-8pm
Following a 36 day occupation which commenced on Christmas Day, the public sector union Sintraemcali successfully prevented the privatisation of the public services of Cali, Colombia's second city. This victory rally will pay tribute to the 1535 trade unionists assassinated in Colombia over the past 10 years and the continuing struggle of the Colombian people against the imposition of neo-liberalism.
